A 2 Sided Victorian Mourning Hair Art, Tintype Photo in Niello Brooch. Woven Pallette Worked Hair Flowers on Front under beveled glass, Tintype on Back Necklace Added. OOAK, One of a Kind Memorial Keepsake. Necklace & converter included.  Brooch has over extended pin over tintype in back , "C Clasp".   Sometimes these brooches were not in mourning, just to express affection for beloved. Buyers decides.
Measures 1 1/3" x 1 1/8" x 3/8" thick.
Brooch is about  circa 1850. Front is near mint, tintype is a little rough around the edges. Tintype is hidden & only chose if you wish to share.  Container does open, photo is replaceable. Glass on front only. The surround setting is done in niello, akin to enamel. Instead, a base of silver is cast, leaving open areas, which are filled with a mixture of silver, sulfur and lead. This is then fired in a kiln and polished, very nice. All of this is set in unmarked silver with hinged back. The tiny hair work art is awesome; There is a tiny, tiny pearl forming the center of one of the palette-worked flowers.
I have added the  a pendant converter to make this brooch a pendant with bail & Rhodium 19" Necklace.  See final pic.
