Description
Another fun piece! For the mourning jewelry lovers out there I have a treat! 😉This beautiful pendant is Georgian (1790-1810) and is double sided! Adorned with Forget-Me-Not flowers, Pearl tears and multiple colors of hair indicates this was likely a family piece. The Prince of Wales design on the reverse could be a “family tree” of sorts with the different colors of hair!
The white porcelain background symbolizes purity and normally indicates a virgin woman. So maybe this piece was in memorial of brothers and sisters who all died at a young age? Nobody will ever know as there is no engraving anywhere!
The pendant is low karat gold “9-10k” and weighs 20.6 grams. It measures 2” tall, 1 1/2” wide and 7mm thick. The bale and setting are all unmarked but tested.
Please note all of the hair is in good condition but the white porcelain background has a few minor cracks. There are a couple small gold “willow” branches that are not in their original spot, but are present. It’s held up nicely over the years!
