1176LN Compressor /Limiter Clone with Stereo Link

This lightly-used, custom-built 1176LN Limiting Amplifier is based on the
Hairball 1176 "FET Rack" Revision G
kit, which is in turn based on the UREI 1176LN designed by Bill Putnam. It is in perfect operating and cosmetic condition and is fully calibrated and tested. It includes the stereo linking circuit to allow connection to a second 1176 for stereo compression and limiting. (The link circuit is compatible with the Purple Audio MC77 link circuit.) The unit was carefully assembled by a degreed electrical engineer with 50 years experience in audio electronics. I am selling only because I am closing down my personal studio.
A power cord,
user manual, and spare fuses and meter lamps are included. The minimum bid price is less than the cost of the parts!
This 1176LN clone is an exact copy of the UREI 1176LN Revision G. It uses an ultra-low noise 5532
IC differential amplifier at the input. This provides an input impedance of 20Kohm (balanced) / 10Kohm (unbalanced), which works better with newer mixing consoles than compressors with 600 ohm inputs.
Push button selection of compression ratios of 4:1, 8:1, 12:1, and 20:1 is provided, as well as the "all buttons in" mode. The compressor has adjustable attack time from the ultra-fast 20 microseconds to 800 microseconds. Release time is adjustable from 50 milliseconds to 1.1 seconds.
The output is class A/B and uses a custom Ed Anderson EA-11148 output transformer. Revision G is one of the cleanest and lowest noise revisions as it has the lowest harmonic distortion resulting in a less colored sound, although preserving the 1176-style compression.
This unit includes several extra features. It includes the stereo linking circuit (with switch and connectors) to allow connection to a second 1176LN (Hairball-type clone)
for stereo compression and limiting without an external adapter. (The link circuit is also compatible with the Purple Audio MC77 link circuit.)
The output has a switchable 1 Kohm termination to minimize ringing when connected to high impedance inputs. The input and output have 1/4" TRS phone jack connectors as well as XLR connectors.
The toroidal power transformer has dual primary windings and can be rewired for 230V operation (Rewiring instructions included.)
